The Private Pilot Licence (PPL)
Gaining a PPL is an extremely rewarding achievement. The JAR PPL licence allows you to fly anywhere in the European Union. A day trip to France or maybe a few days in Spain are all available to the holder of a PPL licence.
The course comprises a minimum of 45 hours flying of which 10 you will fly solo. You will begin with the basics looking at effects of controls and then building up to your first solo flight. Soon after that it's on to navigation and land-aways at other airports.
There are also a number of ground examinations to pass and also a medical with an authorised CAA medical examiner.
Advanced PPL Training
Once you have gained your private licence, you may also wish to add additional ratings to it such as a night rating. You could also take the opportunity to gain ratings on some of our more advanced aircraft. A night rating is also a requirement for a Commercial Pilot's Licence (CPL).
